What is Chiptuning or ECU Remapping? 

ECU Remapping also known as Chiptuning is adjusting the computer program that drives the engine of your car. The software is optimized to ensure efficiency and power go up. The remaps of Verhoeven Tuning are a balanced combination between reliability and performance, developed in our dyno testcell. Chiptuning by Verhoeven Tuning makes your car smoother, inproves driveability performance and gives the car a better fuel economy.

The developed tuningsoftware is designed for a specific brand and model. However, two exactly simular cars of the same build can still differ from each other, so we read every car’s original software and tune the file that was in the car. This way you are sure that the remap suits your car perfectly.

How it Works

Most engines in modern cars are controlled by an ECU (Electronic Control Unit). This ECU contains a processor that constantly controls the amount of injected fuel, the boost pressure and the ignition timing. With remapping we influence certain values in that software and optimize the way the program uses the parameters that are gathered by sensors. So the ECU is asking the engine to put out some more power when necessary and be a little bit more efficient. These programs are written well within the maximum capacity of the engine, to guarantee durability even under extreme conditions or just for economical reasons. That leaves the necessary space to make a remap possible, without damaging the engine. 

This results into a increase of power, which gives you more horsepower and torque. This means a car can accelerate faster and has a higher top speed. And with the same style of driving the engine will use less fuel, because the engine works more efficiently. The engine will run smoother and will often have a better throttle response.
